Professor Louise Archer

Louise Archer is a Karl Mannheim Professor of Sociology of Education / UCL Institute of Education.

Louise’s research focuses on educational identities and inequalities, with a particular focus on gender, social class and ethnicity. She has written extensively and is currently the director of several large, national projects, including the ten year research council funded Aspires/Aspires2 study of young people’s science and career aspirations, age 10-18, and the five year Enterprising Science project focused on understanding and building ‘science capital’ in schools and the informal sector. Louise is also Vice President (Education) of the British Science Association.
