Julie Bentley has held senior positions in the not for profit sector for over eighteen years. She has been CEO of the leading UK charity for Girls and Young Women – Girlguiding since November 2012.
Julie was CEO of The Suzy Lamplugh Trust for four years and was the first non member of the Lamplugh family to lead the charity. Before Suzy Lamplugh Trust Julie was Director of Corporate Services for the substance misuse charity ARP and before that was Assistant Director of the voluntary sector settlement Charterhouse-in Soutwark. Immediately before joining Girlguiding in 2012 Julie was CEO of the sexual health charity FPA.
During her tenure at FPA Julie was a member of the Governments Teenage Pregnancy Independent Advisory Group and the Independent Advisory Group on Sexual Health and HIV.
Julie is Trustee of Shelter and in 2012 ended a six year tenure as Trustee of the young people’s charity Get Connected. Earlier in her career Julie was Chair of Greater London Associaiton of Alcohol Servcies which she led through a succesful merger with London Drug Network to form LDAN (London Drug and Alcohol Network).
in 2014 Julie was voted 5th on the Women’s Hour Game Changers list, also in 2014 Julie received the Third Sector Award for Britain’s most admired CEO. Julie was the Castaway on Desert Island Discs in December 2014
